When Facebook asked me to design a mural with the theme of connection, my first thought was to feature the night sky. Wherever we are in the world, we can look up at the stars and feel a sense of place. The challenge for this mural was to wrap the design up two flights of stairs and into a lofty atrium. I wanted the grid design to follow the viewer up as they ascend the stairs, and the river to follow them down as they descend to the ground floor. For safety, I had a giant scaffolding put up.
