SeaWalls Mural Festival, Wailuku, Maui

The SeaWalls program was a great fit for me because of my love for nature and the environmental goals in my artwork. The mural festival in Maui focused on the negative effects that industry is having on the ecology of the island. My mural is titled “Celestial Navigation.” It portrays ancient navigation techniques superimposed above the modern observatory on Haleakala. The commentary I am making is that although modern technological accomplishments are important, we should not lose sight of ancient practices.
